School-based Youth Justice Prevention Officer

Job description

Job purpose:

  • To provide a range of services as required to courts, families, young offenders, young people at risk of offending, young people at risk of poor life chances, victims and the community.
  • To develop projects and activities with young people to enhance their skills, confidence, personal and social development.
  • To work with other agencies to maximise the resources and opportunities available for young people.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with and supervising young people in a variety of settings to reduce the risk of offending, reduce the risk of harm they may present to others and to ensure they are kept safe from harm.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of programmes of work with young people, both group and individual.
  • Ensuring the views and needs of young people are represented in the services and programmes that are delivered by Targeted Services for Young people and wider LCC services.  
  • Assessing, planning and delivering interventions according to the needs of young people and their families.
  • Working with partners both statutory and voluntary and local communities to provide positive opportunities for young people.
  • Advocating for and representing young people in a variety of settings.
  • Supporting and working with the families of young people in contact with Targeted Services for Young People to enable them to address areas of concern and assist integration into mainstream statutory and voluntary services.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people and their families.
  • Experience of delivering group and individual programmes of work with young people.
  • Knowledge of and experience of applying LCC Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of working in a team and the ability to contribute to team and service developments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people including those who display challenging behaviour.
  • A personal commitment to contributing to the effectiveness of services to young people and communities.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
