Band 6 Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapist

Job description

As a Band 6 Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing occupational therapy planning, assessment, and rehabilitation to adults with complex long-term neurological conditions in the community. This includes individuals with MS, MND, Parkinson's, stroke, FND, and other neurological conditions. Your responsibilities will involve skilled assessments, formulation of individualized management and treatment plans, and utilization of evidence-based clinical reasoning skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for patients with neurological conditions, focusing on their functional abilities, cognitive skills, and daily living activities.
  • Developing individualised treatment plans to promote patient independence and recovery.
  • Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including task-specific training, adaptive techniques, and equipment recommendations.
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
  • Coordinating with community services and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Ensuring all documentation complies with legal and organisational requirements.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Current experience in providing occupational therapy to adults with neurological conditions in the community.
  • Ability to undertake skilled assessments and formulate individualised management and treatment plans.
  • Utilization of evidence-based clinical reasoning skills and a wide range of treatment options.
  • Must have a car as you'll be visiting patients in their homes and at clinic locations.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
