Children's Centre Worker

Job description

As a Children's Centre Worker, you will assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of community and centre based activities that support young children's learning, development and health ensuring consistency of high quality provision.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing additional staff resources for the Council's managed nursery provision as and when required.
  • Demonstrating understanding of the Council’s Customer Care Standards and ensure that these standards are met in order to deliver the Council vision of ‘putting our residents first’.
  • Working as part of a team, to take a lead on the development and delivery of universal and targeted services for children and their families, as directed by the Children's Centre Co-ordinator.
  • Ensuring all Children’s Centre activities are set up with appropriate toys and equipment before each session begins, ensuring a risk assessment is completed and updated regularly.
  • Ensuring an extensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policy and procedure and to report to the Children’s Centre Co-ordinator any concerns about children.
  • Supporting and providing a warm welcoming environment to both children and parent/carers using the Children's Centre Services and to forge strong working relationships with the families.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the current Locality Plan and understanding of own contribution in order to ensure delivery of this plan.
  • Identifying and suggesting any improvements to current ways of working in order to deliver a more efficient and effective service for families.

Requirements:

  • Early Years and Childcare qualifications at level 2 or above.
  • Post qualification experience of planning and carrying out care, play and learning programmes for groups of young children, including children under three, appropriate to their needs and developmental stage.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Ability to work flexibly across sites to meet the needs of the service.
  • Excellent knowledge of early childhood development and practice including the Early Years Stage Foundation Stage.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team in order to provide the best service to the children and their families.
