Family Support Worker

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Support Worker to join a committed team in Rochdale. The successful candidate will work directly with families to provide practical and emotional support, assisting them in accessing resources, improving their circumstances, and fostering a positive and nurturing environment for their children.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting assessments to identify the needs of families and develop tailored support plans.
  • Providing one-on-one support to families, including home visits, to address issues such as parenting, domestic violence, substance abuse, and financial difficulties.
  • Working closely with children and parents to improve family relationships and dynamics.
  • Assisting families in accessing community resources, such as healthcare, housing, education, and employment services.
  • Facilitating parenting classes, support groups, and workshops to empower families with knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and educators, to ensure comprehensive support for families.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and interventions with families.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress of families, adjusting support plans as necessary.
  • Advocating for families’ needs and rights within the community and with other service providers.
  • Promoting safeguarding and ensure the welfare of all family members, especially children.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, particularly working with families and children.
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by families in Rochdale and the available community resources.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with families.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
