Learning Disability Support Worker

Job description

Job purpose:

  • To enable service users with individual needs to improve their quality of life and be part of their communities.
  • To promote independence, wellbeing, rights, responsibilities and choice among service users.
  • To provide day to day care and support to enable the individuals to live as independently as possible.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meeting quality expectations and agreed performance criteria.
  • Participating and utilising management information and information collection systems.
  • Participating in training and other development opportunities.
  • Ensuring risk assessments are completed when appropriate.
  • Supporting individuals with their personal care.
  • Providing advice and information for service users and others where appropriate.
  • Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.
  • Supporting individuals to achieve goals and objectives as set out in their care/support plans.
  • Working with service users in a person-centred way, to meet needs, personal goals and aspirations.
  • Promoting independent living through service users’ personal choice, advocacy and support.

Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a challenging and changeable environment.
  • The ability to undertake the moving and handling of service users following training.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills with the ability to receive and undertake instruction and to tailor the message to the audience.
  • Must be comfortable with providing personal care to service users.
  • Enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
