Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join a Family Assessment Centre team in Hendon. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments of families, primarily focusing on parental capacity and child welfare, within a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out in-depth family assessments to determine the support required for child and family well-being, focusing on areas such as parenting skills, child safety, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborating with families to create individualised support and intervention plans, addressing identified needs to help families achieve stability and positive change.
  • Managing a caseload of families, documenting all interactions, assessment findings, and recommendations in line with best practices and organisational guidelines.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports, including risk assessments and case notes, to be shared with relevant authorities and stakeholders as needed.
  • Working closely with a range of professionals, including psychologists, therapists, healthcare providers, and local authorities, to ensure a holistic approach to family assessments.
  • Ensuring that all actions adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, and taking prompt action to protect vulnerable children and families.
  • Providing immediate support and intervention when necessary, addressing urgent needs and ensuring family safety.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Social Work.
  • Valid registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in family assessment, child protection, and/or family support services.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals, adapting communication styles to suit varied needs.
  • Strong ability to assess complex family situations, identify risks, and make well-informed recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing emotionally challenging situations while maintaining professionalism
  • Excellent time management and documentation skills, ensuring thorough and accurate record-keeping.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
