We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Substance Misuse Nurse to join a dedicated team in Birmingham. This role is crucial in providing high-quality care and support to individuals dealing with substance misuse issues. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in addiction services and a commitment to improving client outcomes through holistic and evidence-based approaches.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of clients’ substance misuse and related health needs.
- Developing and implementing personalised care plans in collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Providing direct clinical care, including administering medications, managing detoxification processes, and monitoring health and wellbeing.
- Ensuring care is delivered in line with best practices and guidelines.
- Offering one-to-one and group support sessions, providing counselling and motivational interviewing to help clients address substance misuse and develop coping strategies.
- Educating clients about the effects of substance misuse, harm reduction techniques, and strategies for maintaining recovery.
- Promoting healthy lifestyles and overall well-being.
- Coordinating with other healthcare professionals and services to provide holistic care.
- Identifying and managing risks associated with substance misuse, including potential health crises and safeguarding concerns.
- Managing referrals, monitoring progress, and adjusting care plans as necessary.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
- Relevant qualification or experience in addiction or mental health nursing.
- Demonstrated experience in substance misuse or addiction services, including working with individuals with complex needs.
- In-depth understanding of substance misuse issues, treatment approaches, and harm reduction strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload, maintain accurate records, and handle administrative tasks efficiently.
