Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Substance Misuse Nurse to join a committed team in Hull. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care and support to individuals dealing with substance misuse problems. Your work will involve assessing, planning, and implementing care plans, as well as working collaboratively with other professionals to support clients in their recovery journey.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of clients’ physical and mental health, substance misuse history, and social circumstances.
  • Developing and implementing individualised care plans in collaboration with clients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Providing medical care and support related to substance misuse, including medication management, withdrawal symptom management, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Offering support and counselling to clients to help them understand and manage their substance misuse.
  • Providing education on topics such as drug and alcohol effects, treatment options, and strategies for maintaining recovery.
  • Regularly reviewing and monitoring clients’ progress, adjusting care plans as needed to ensure effective treatment and support. Document and report on clients’ progress, outcomes, and any incidents or concerns.
  • Responding to and managing crisis situations, providing immediate support and intervention to clients in need.
  • Working closely with other healthcare professionals to provide a coordinated approach to care.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC registration and relevant qualifications in substance misuse or addiction nursing.
  • Previous experience in a substance misuse or addiction setting.
  • Experience in providing clinical care and support to individuals with substance misuse issues.
  • Strong assessment, clinical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A compassionate and non-judgmental approach with a genuine commitment to supporting individuals in their recovery journey.
  • Proficiency in managing complex cases and handling crisis situations.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
