Tenant and Homeowner Involvement Team Leader

Job description

Job purpose:

  • Ensuring residents are involved in improving landlord services and promoting strong and sustainable neighbourhoods with significant emphasis on community outreach and support for local communities.
  • Providing operational management support for resident-led oversight and scrutiny boards and ensuring a wide range of involvement opportunities are offered for residents.
  • Leading the delivery and implementation of Southwark’s Housing resident involvement strategy and operational plans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the team and provide operational support for accessible and flexible resident involvement opportunities for all tenants and homeowners to ensure the views of residents are weaved into the design and delivery of landlord services.
  • Implementing, maintaining and servicing appropriate resident involvement and empowerment structures to enable residents to hold the council as a landlord accountable for delivering excellent landlord services and devise clear operational plans to drive the achievement of the resident involvement strategy.
  • Leading and contributing to consultation and community outreach events which can develop resident empowerment and capacity building and provide new opportunities for joint working.
  • Contributing to designing, implementing and embedding performance and quality standards to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the service and across all internal and external measures.
  • Leading and maintaining a team culture that is focused closing the gap in life chances and empowering residents to play a role in creating thriving neighbourhoods and giving more support for tenants to run key services on their estates and local areas.
  • Developing a sound programme of data led customer communications to support resident involvement and champion the diversity of all resident involvement mechanisms in keeping with the council’s policies on equalities and diversity and Southwark Stands Together.

Requirements:

  • A Degree and Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing or ongoing professional development in public sector housing management.
  • Demonstrable understanding of local community issues and challenges in delivering community cohesion projects and practical actions to create strong and vibrant neighbourhoods.
  • Proven experience as a residents and/or community participation lead role within a fast paced programme operating environment.
  • Demonstrable evidence of managing and motivating teams to achieve demanding business targets.
  • Experience of developing and nurturing excellent professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and consultation skills and ability to write reports to a high standard.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
