Housing Strategy Manager

Job description

Working as a Housing Strategy Manager, you will be playing a key role in shaping and executing strategic improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading on and supporting the delivery of critical Housing projects.
  • Producing and presenting consistently high-quality reports in consultation and to the requirements of the Leadership Team.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of strategic initiatives, making adjustments as needed.
  • Providing strategic guidance and support to senior leadership.
  • Preparing and presenting reports and presentations to communicate improvement and strategic plans and progress.
  • Staying informed about trends and best practices in housing strategy, development and execution to facilitate decision making, service transformation and commissioning.
  • Managing and advising upon political processes, ensuring quality, clarity, and consistency in the Department’s interactions with elected members and senior officers.
  • Ensuring appropriate resources are in place to coordinate and support external inspections when announced.
  • Acing as a key point of contact during inspections to ensure that demands are responded to and progress and issues are effectively communicated to stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and advanced skills in articulating information in writing and through presentations.
  • Proven ability in providing efficient management of and accountability for staff, including recruitment, development, and management to improve performance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of external inspection frameworks which impact upon Housing Services with experience of managing or supporting inspections.
  • A track record of working as part of cross-functional project teams, and ability to manage the delivery to a high standard.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with staff at all levels, corporate colleagues, elected members and external organisations.
  • Experience and understanding of local authority governance, decision making and scrutiny as well as performance reporting against Council Plans.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
