Accommodation Resource Support Officer

Job description

Job purpose:

  • Providing an effective and professional customer orientated service to people experiencing housing difficulties.
  • Providing effective operational and administrative support to the Accommodation Resource Team across the three strands of the team.
  • Communicating to homeless households, both face-to-face and over the telephone including the ability to consider what type of service and/or accommodation would be most suitable for them and explaining how the process of temporary accommodation works, in line with relevant legislation.  
  • Providing effective operational and administration support within the Accommodation Resource Team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To provide advice both face-to-face and over the telephone to customers approaching the Council for housing support and assistance in terms of temporary accommodation, and booking appointments for the team where appropriate.
  • To provide effective support within the Accommodation Resource Team, including minute taking, photocopying, scanning, filing, general data input, use of excel spreadsheets, and production of reports etc.
  • To accurately record information on the Humme and Anite housing and CRM systems.
  • To assist with securing supported accommodation by referring applicants to a range of supported accommodation projects.
  • To assist in finding private rented accommodation via online searches and ringing estate agents and landlords.
  • To complete income and expenditure statements with customers in order to assist with assessing affordability.

Requirements:

  • An up to date awareness of the welfare benefit system and welfare reform changes, or a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of the legal processes required to recover possession of property, including Section 21 Notice Requiring Possession, NOSP’s and court proceedings, or a willingness to learn.
  • As this is a customer focused role the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential
  • Experience of interviewing clients and/or working in a front facing service.
  • Experience in providing housing related support or advice, working in a housing related field or working with vulnerable customers.
  • Experience of providing administrative support within a busy service
  • Ability to remain calm and working in a high pressured and fast paced environment, in a demanding service.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
