Assistant Team Manager - Occupational Therapy

Job description

Job purpose:

To provide professional leadership and support to a team of qualified and unqualified staff within a multidisciplinary team whilst ensuring practice standards remain high and that services are delivered appropriately to adults, including those with complex needs and those where statutory intervention is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To provide professional supervision for the Social Workers in the Locality Team.
  • To act as ‘duty’ manager and to ensure that work is allocated in accordance with assessed need and Departmental policy, and that allocation of work to individual members of staff is commensurate with their skills, expertise and ability.
  • To hold a caseload of a high level of complexity and provide case management, guidance, support and expert advice to social care staff, students and partner staff as and when required, so as to maintain the highest level of professional service.
  • To ensure that support plans and other information regarding individual care packages is shared with the service user, carers and other agencies as required and within the Department’s policy on confidentiality.
  • To be responsible for and to manage budgets as delegated by the Team Manager.
  • To contribute to the development of services and good practice in care management as well as policies and procedures within the department.

Requirements:

  • Degree or an equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy and registered with the HCPC.
  • A Minimum of 2 years management and supervisory experience.
  • Experience of Occupational Therapy (minimum 2 years) within a Local Authority including major adaptations and complex manual handling.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and the principles of safeguarding.
  • You will need to demonstrate experience of completing holistic assessments for the provision of services such as recommending equipment, minor and major adaptations, moving and handling risk assessments, mobility assessments and re-housing support.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
