Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performing dental hygiene assessments and providing preventative dental care, including scaling and polishing teeth.
- Educating patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining good oral health.
- Developing tailored oral hygiene plans based on individual patient needs.
- Applying preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides to the teeth.
- Conducting thorough oral examinations and report findings to the dentist.
- Assisting the dentist during various procedures, when necessary.
- Maintaining a clean and sterile clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Updating patient records accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Scheduling patient appointments and manage follow-up care plans.
- Assisting with stock control and ordering of dental hygiene supplies.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with patients, providing reassurance and addressing their concerns.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Dental Hygiene from a recognised institution.
- Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Hygienist.
- Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist.
- Proficiency in using dental software systems is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
