We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Misuse Nurse to join a dynamic team in Southwark. In this role, you will provide expert clinical care and support to individuals affected by substance misuse, enabling them to achieve improved health and wellbeing. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based interventions and support patients through their recovery journey.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive assessments, care planning, and risk management for individuals with substance misuse issues.
- Delivering harm reduction advice and interventions, including needle exchange services and naloxone training.
- Offering support and advice on managing physical and mental health co-morbidities associated with substance misuse.
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies, including social services, mental health teams, and housing support.
- Participating in multi-agency case reviews and contribute to safeguarding processes as required.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with legal and organisational standards.
- Providing education and training to clients, families, and colleagues to promote awareness and understanding of substance misuse issues.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN/RMN/RGN) with valid NMC registration.
- Demonstrable experience working in substance misuse, addiction services, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of harm reduction principles, detoxification protocols, and mental health interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A proactive and compassionate approach to patient care.
- Experience in working within multidisciplinary teams and with external agencies.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
