Deputy Ward Manager

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join a committed on an our acute ward. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing senior nursing leadership and support to the ward nursing team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and treatment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team, supporting the Ward Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward.
  • Overseeing the implementation of care plans and ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained.
  • Supporting the Ward Manager with delegated responsibilities, including staff supervision, performance management, and quality assurance activities.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures to improve patient care and safety.
  • Coordinating and leading clinical supervision sessions, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Maintaining effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to care.
  • Managing staffing levels and ensuring appropriate skill mix on the ward, adjusting as necessary to meet patient needs.
  • Supporting the development and mentorship of junior staff, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Participating in audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • First level Registered Nurse (RMN) with a valid NMC registration.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in acute mental health settings.
  • Proven experience in clinical supervision; training is desirable.
  • Demonstrated evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and a commitment to maintaining and developing CPD and leadership skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in electronic health records and other healthcare software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in mentorship is desirable, but training can be provided if needed.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
