Primary School Teaching Assistant

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Primary School Teaching Assistant to join the team for the upcoming Summer Term. The successful candidate will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance and guidance to students, helping to facilitate their academic progress and personal development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students, reinforcing learning objectives and helping to address individual learning needs.
  • Assisting with classroom management, behaviour management, and the implementation of positive behaviour strategies.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to participate.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Contributing to the assessment and monitoring of student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adapting support strategies as needed.
  • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources, materials, and displays to enhance learning experiences.
  • Supporting the social, emotional, and personal development of students.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • A passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others to meet the needs of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs and priorities of students and the school environment.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
