RMN / Staff Nurse

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the Acute Mental Health Inpatient team in Nottingham. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients with acute mental health needs, contributing to their recovery and promoting a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute mental health conditions, ensuring safety and promoting recovery.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of patients' mental health status and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to create individualised care plans.
  • Administering medication in accordance with prescribed treatment plans, monitoring effects, and reporting adverse reactions as necessary.
  • Responding to crises and emergencies, implementing appropriate de-escalation techniques and risk management strategies.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring their voices are heard in treatment planning and care delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.
  • Working closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to provide coordinated care.
  • Educating patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to health and safety protocols and participating in training as required.

Requirements:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Previous experience in a mental health setting, preferably in an acute inpatient environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage challenging situations.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and collaborative teamwork.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
