Job description
Job purpose:
The successful candidate will be working with young people presenting complex social, learning and emotional needs, as well as challenging behaviour.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, resourcing and preparing supportive and engaging therapy programmes.
- Developing and facilitating intervention programs.
- Completing therapy reports.
- Ensuring effective and smooth transitions for young people.
- Attending therapy meetings.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Having an awareness of, and complying with, policies and procedures relating to child protection.
- Being aware of and supporting differences.
- Establishing appropriate goals that promote increased participation and independence.
Requirements:
- Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
- Registration with HCPC.
- Ability to work successfully with young people with challenging behaviour.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Thorough understanding of child development, learning and children with SEMH and associated SEN.
- Thorough understanding of relevant policies and an awareness of relevant legislation.
- Experience of working with an educational environment.
