Job description

Working as an Educational Psychologist, you will be working at various levels in the local area and apply psychology to promote the inclusion and improve the outcomes of children and young people with SEND.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Applying a sound understanding of the legislation that guides the work of EPs and adhere to the values and time scales within this work.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of key strategies and strategic values of the Local Area and EPS and ensure there is alignment with individual practice and performance.
  • To contribute to the development of the service development plan and key strategies at a local area level, as required.
  • To support a positive and supportive team ethos and culture.
  • To promote learning organisation methodology, e.g. use learning from case work to enable systems level work and adaptations to internal systems.
  • To lead small projects or programmes of work in the EPS or in educational settings.
  • To deliver an allocation of work through managing own time and quality of work, ensuring service standards are met.
  • To seek feedback and evaluation from educational settings, parents, and children and young people to enable service development.
  • To promote the development of educational provision through providing advice & consultation, training, and modelling good practice.

Requirements:

  • Honours degree in Psychology.
  • Professional EP qualification obtained from are cognised training course.
  • Successful experience as either a qualified Educational Psychologist and/or a trainee EP on placement in the public sector.
  • Understanding and application of psychological knowledge and theory in relation to individual casework, change and organisations.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, statutory frameworks and best practice affecting children and young people with SEN/D.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the major issues facing education for vulnerable pupils with SEN/D.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including consultation approaches which enable effective working and collaboration peers in the service and with children, young people and their families and other professions.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
