Homelessness Prevention Adviser

Job description

To provide tailored advice to customers approaching the Homeless Prevention Service on a range of housing options and opportunities, training & employment, wellbeing, welfare benefits and debt. To provide specialist advice and casework service to a range of residents: the single homeless including refugees, families, households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, households in insecure accommodation, young people and applicants with a range of support needs including substance misuse, mental and physical health and domestic abuse.

To carry out assessments under the Homelessness Legislation and provide suitable housing options. To work jointly with the Housing Assessment and Allocation Services to maximise homelessness prevention and the take up of a range of effective solutions to meet housing need. To work with the our Lettings Team to plan the delivery of a broad range of housing options which meet the needs of homeless households and others in housing need.

Working alongside existing staff, Managers, external and partnership agencies (including Probation, Mental Health Support Services and Rough Sleeper Teams) the role will require a good level of customer experience, administrative skills, ability to communicate effectively, work with vulnerable households, manage a caseload and to deliver a quality service in a professional and sensitive way’
